Welcome to MacArthur House B&B, Grand Marais's premier bed & breakfast that is truly beautiful, spacious and relaxing. Our home is in the North Shore harbor town of Grand Marais, Minnesota. We are conveniently located 1/2 block off the popular Gunflint Trail, 2 blocks from the North Shore of Lake Superior, and 4 blocks from the center of town. Grand Marais is well known for fine dining, shopping, art galleries and theater. All of which are only a short walk from our front door. The North Shore offers many activities. Attend a class at the North House Folk School or Art Colony ( 2 blocks ). Enjoy one of the many outdoor activities and scenery: Pincushion Mountain, The Superior Hiking Trail, Judge Magney State Park, Isle Royale, Grand Portage, Eagle Mountain and Lutsen which offer hiking, cross country skiing, canoeing, snow shoeing, biking, downhill skiing, golfing, and sea kayaking.
Our home was designed and built as a bed & breakfast. All of our rooms are large and spacious. Our guests often remark how wonderful the size of the house and rooms. Each room has its own private bath. The Décor is tasteful and pleasant. Our common areas are furnished casually so guests feel completely at home. We invite you to warm yourself by the fireplace in our living room, listen to music, watch a movie, or just relax.
Every morning, at 8:30 a.m., an abundant homemade breakfast is served in the dining room. Breakfast consist of fresh fruit followed by different entrées such as: pecan french toast, frittatas, creme brulee french toast, hash brown quiche, peach french toast, apple pecan waffles, or banana bread french toast with caramel sauce, along with homemade turkey wild rice sausage, Italian or maple sausages. Fresh baked goods, blackberry cream cheese coffee cake, sour creme coffee cake, caramel rolls or a blueberry torte are added for your sweet tooth. Fresh free trade organic ground coffee, a special blend made for us by European Roasterie. Assorted green, black and herbal teas and fresh juice complete the meal.
